21S In Action
21st Century Innovation and Collaboration

Cisco - Jefferson Parish Public School System 21S In Action Program Summary
Work with JPPSS school teams to create innovative, authentic projects for the 2008-2009 school year that showcase a classroom environment that demonstrates 21st century skills through the integration of technology and curriculum:
  • teacher and student engagement
  • critical thinking and problem solving
  • project based learning
  • parental and community involvement
  • teacher, student and parental collaboration
Example projects include: using Web 2.0 tools; Museum “Adopt an Exhibit” projects, social networking, ePALs, Kiva. See the program plan for a detailed list.


Program Objectives
  • Build upon 2007-2008 acheivements
    • Upgraded network connectivity
    • New classroom technology
    • Professional development including INTECH 21S, Cisco – SAAM Institute, Schlechty WOW, Alan November
  • Encourage daily use of technology and innovation
  • Inclusion and ownership- include students at all levels as team members to foster ownership and engagement
  • Parental and community engagement
  • Communication, marketing and PR within JPPSS, Cisco, as well as community, state via articles, stories, video
  • Establish partnerships for support and enablement: Cisco mentors, community, local universities and colleges
  • Outcomes- measurable and demonstrable
  • Replicability, scalability and sustainability via involvment of JPPSS personnel at all levels and documentation


Program Team
The program team works with school-based teams, including teachers, librarians, students, parents as well as partners to help initiate, manage and document 21S In Action projects.
